As a teacher, Austin has found many ways to share his passion for music with others. Austin currently serves on faculty at Catawba College, in Salisbury, NC, as the Assistant Director of Bands and Instructor of Tuba. Austin also serves as the Brass and Woodwind Instructor for the Athletic Bands at Gardner-Webb University, in Bolings Springs, NC.
In addition to his collegiate teaching, Austin has the pleasure of working as a Low Brass Lessons Instructor and Marching Brass Instructor as various high schools, including West Lincoln High School, Lincolnton High School, and Davie County High School. He formerly served as the Low Brass Lessons Instructor for the West Hartford School District in West Hartford, CT for two years.
Austin began his teaching journey in 2016 through private lessons for low brass musicians of all ages. Including tuba, euphonium, and trombone students. Austin's private studio has seen great success. Many students have gone on to compete and perform in district and state level honor bands and orchestras, collegiate symposiums, and summer music festivals.

Austin is part of a new and upcoming generation of musicians and is known for his characteristic sound and intimate musicality.

Austin is part of a new and upcoming generation of musicians and is known for his characteristic sound and intimate musicality.
As a performer, Austin has had the pleasure of performing in various wind bands, orchestras, and chamber groups along the east coast. Austin has performed as a guest tubist with the U.S. Army Band's "Pershing's Own", Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, NC Western Region Honors Orchestra, and at the NC Governors Ball. Most recently, Austin served as the principal tubist for the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra from 2022 to 2024, during which he was featured as a soloist performing "Concerto for Bass Tuba" by Ralph Vaughn Williams. Austin also frequently performs as a guest musician for colleges and universitites.

Austin received his Master of Music in Tuba Performance degree from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford in 2024, with additional studies in Music Pedagogy. He received his Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance from the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University in 2021. His primary teachers have included Scott Mendok

Austin is married to his wonderful wife, Emily, and resides in Shelby, NC, located in the Hickory/Lincolnton/Charlotte area. He often enjoys trips to the mountains, the beach, and Florida (most likely for Disney World and Universal Studios).
Low Brass Lessons with Austin include fundamental and musical training on tuba, euphonium, and/or trombone. These are offered in 1 hour and/or 30 minute sessions. School programs can also inquire about scheduling day sessions to include multiple student lessons.
Austin is available for a large variety of performing services as either a member or soloist. These can include groups such as band, orchestra, and chamber ensembles. Austin frequently performs with many colleges, universities, and local orchestras as a guest tubist.
As a clinician, Austin often works with concert ensemble groups, providing insight and musical feedback. Clinics can include working with the full ensemble or sections to best serve the need of the group.
As a marching band clinician, Austin focuses on combining great marching technique with wonderful music performance. Clinics include marching exercises, show feedback, and music rehearsal.
As a show designer and drill writer, Austin seeks to entertain audiences in all settings. This includes creation of interesting show concepts, visual field design, and appealing drill that is suited to both the performers and the show.
Austin is available for adjudication services in settings such as marching band competitions, honor band auditions, and solo/chamber festivals.
